Dr. James B. Mazock

Biography

Short story of how I got here.

Dr. Mazock is a native of San Antonio and the current owner of SAOMSA.  After high school, he worked in construction, on Shrimp boats out of Louisiana and oil rigs while continuing to go to college.  After completing his undergraduate degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Texas, he earned his MT from the American Society of ClinicalPathologists.  He then entered graduate school, studying Neuropharmacology where he was introduced to a life long love of science.  He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School in 1998 after receiving numerous academic awards.  Dr. Mazock went on Active duty in the US Navy, Fleet Marine Force at USMC Camp Lejune, NC, Naval Hospital Rota, Spain and Naval Hospital Naples, Italy eventually serveing as Flight Surgeon for the NASA Space Shuttle recovery program (STS-114) and was honorably discharged after 10 years of dedicated service. During this time, successfully challenged the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is now a Diplomat of the ABOMS.  In fact, he has recently voluntarily recertified his boards!! He is a Fellow of AAOMS and on the Board of Directors for the SA Dental Society as well as a past president of the UTHSCSA Alumni Assoc. 
Together with his wife Angela, they raise thier 2 daughters Taylor and Addison as well as working a small cattle ranch. It's these life experiences that have helped mold the compassionate, skilled, caring provider he is. Being sought after as a surgeon other doctors come to for care. Also being recognized by his peers as a Top OMS every year since 2009, as seen in Texas Monthly edition of Super Dentists.
